Juan, Tatak Pinoy ka ba?

It’s funny how Filipinos bargain prices on Philippine made products when they spent so much on their imported items like LV, Chanel, Gucci, Armani, Prada, Calvin Klein, Charles and Keith, Jimmy Choo and etc. w/o second thoughts.  How can the Philippine economy grow when Filipinos can’t even patronize Philippine made products?!? Who gets richer and richer when you buy these foreign branded items? Who takes advantage of your hard-earned money?

Are the Philippine made products low in quality?  I don’t think so… If you insist that it is, well it can’t be worst as those branded items which are mass produced in China using machines that are programmed to do bulk production of every single item or design.  In fact, most Philippine made products are handcrafted with passion, putting great importance in quality and material.

Is it of poor design? Totally not! We have world-renowned designers and artists who are making big waves in the international scene.  Filipinos are known to be creative WORLDWIDE!

Is it expensive? You tell me! Is it?!?!

So why can’t we be proud to buy, wear and/or use Philippine made products?  Why are all the Filipino actors, actresses, politicians, and other prominent personalities so proud to wear and or use foreign signatures?  Why oh why? Status symbol? Price indicates quality? Why can’t we help elevate our own products’ position in the Global market? If nobody will patronize Filipino made products, then who will?  Everything needs to start within. We need to start on our own so other people, rather other nationalities, will know about our products and what we can do.  In the same way that we’ve known LV, Gucci, Armani, Chanel and the rest of the foreign brands.

Let’s say half of the 90 Million Filipinos patronize Philippine made products and are willing to spend at least Php 500.00 per month on clothes and/or shoes, that’s Php 22,500,000,000 revenue each month for the industry. 12% of it, at the very least, goes to the government as taxes, easily Php 2,700,000,000 income for our beloved Philippines from clothes/shoes industry per month. Multiply it by 12 months… Do the math.

My computation above maybe right or wrong, I’m not really an expert in taxation or economics.  But what I’m trying to point out is that if only Filipinos would try to make the country’s own products as luxurious as the foreign brands they are patronizing, it will be an added income for our nation and our fellow Filipinos.

It’s a domino effect: It would open doors to jobless Filipinos.  It will lessen poverty in the country.  Crime rates will go down, and eventually vanish. Philippines will no longer need to borrow money from rich countries.  We can, once again, be a powerful and rich nation.

In a Global perspective, our Philippine brands will gain international recognition.  Filipino owned businesses will have greater chances of expansion worldwide.  And, in the end, Filipinos will reap all the benefits.

So, Juan, are you willing to do your part? I hope you are in one with me and other Filipinos who want our country to grow. If you know Filipino celebrities or prominent personalities who are big spenders on foreign branded items, I encourage you to open their minds and wake them up in their long sleep.  They can save more if they buy Philippine made products.  They can even earn more if they get to be chosen as the endorser for local brands. And, best of all, they can contribute greatly to the success of our own products and our Nation.

We, Filipinos, have the talent and the skills, aside from the great minds, of course!  Our country, The Philippines, have vast natural resources.  Let’s not allow ourselves and our Nation to be exploited.

Domestic Service Professionals – Pride and Glory of the Philippines

Today, a Filipina Domestic Service Professional took the world’s attention after her rags-to-riches story was featured on Straits Times Singapore, Yahoo! and AFP, to name a few.  The fortunate Filipina Domestic Service Professional, known as Christine, inherited more than US$ 4 Million and a luxurious apartment near Singapore’s famous shopping haven, Orchard Road, from her late employer who passed away a year ago.

Christine, was a Domestic Service Professional to a Singaporean Physician, the late Dr. Quek Kai Miew, for over 20 years. Just like all the other Filipino Domestic Service Professionals, she provided top quality household service to the good doctor and her family.  A top quality household service that made her more than deserving enough to be called a Domestic Service Professional.

Domestic Service Professional, commonly known to many as Domestic Helper or Maid, is a new name tagged to a career which has greatly contributed not just to the personal lives of the individuals rendering such services, but also to the economy of  the Philippines, especially when they are destined to work abroad. The main responsibility of a Domestic Service Professional is to provide household work. This includes, but not limited to  (I must say) house cleaning services, laundry services, childcare & adult care services, cooking services and even gardening services.

Though being a Domestic Service Professional doesn’t require a four-year bachelor’s degree course, their line of work requires special skills which only can be developed after years of experience and specialization while on the job.  Aside from that, it also requires an emotional and psychological skill to be able to overcome the distance from being far away from home or getting homesick.

Christine’s fortune is just one of the things a Domestic Service Professional can achieve through hardwork and determination to be successful.  A long list of achievements would also include a better life for the family, house & lot, Academic diploma / degree for the children and siblings, retirement funds, business opportunities and a whole lot more which our naked eyes can see.  But more than that, the biggest achievement of a Domestic Service Professional can only be seen deep within the heart and soul of every practitioner.

Truly, Domestic Service Professionals are world-class Filipinos! Filipinos that promote not just our nation, but more of our Pride and Glory!

Let’s all promote the advocacy for the Domestic Service Professionals and pave the way for every Filipino to make it Global.  Let’s start within our homes by calling all our household helpers or maids as Domestic Service Professionals. Together, we can create a Global recognition that can open up even greater opportunities for them which we, as Filipinos, can be proud of.

Hello World!

Hello everyone!  Finally, I found a name for my blog – BeeDeeWorld. Took me some time to figure out what name to use and how to title it. At first, I wanted it to be just BeeDee but somebody else already got it. I actually visited the blog site and was frustrated to see that nothing was ever written. It would’ve been the name of this blog. I would’ve used it better and make a lot of sense from the name. But there is always a purpose for everything in this world. There is a good reason why I couldn’t have that name for this blog.

Anyway, why BeeDeeWorld?  Simple.  I’m doing Business Development and Marketing Communications on a Global scale. I want the name & the blog to represent me. I am hoping that I can be efficient in using this blog to be my channel in telling the world about one of the things that I’m good at, Business Development, as far as I know.

But more than promoting myself and what I do.  The main purpose really of this blog is to share the things I know/experience which could be beneficial to some people (readers).  I am hoping that this blog can open up opportunities for a greener pasteur to those reading it. That they can see the world the way I am seeing it – That each one of us can also be as big as the world.

We can Be The World. It’s just a matter of how we’re gonna do it, where to do it and when.
